The Little Dude With a Grin

August 1, 2025

I ran to her when I saw her smile.

She was so pretty I could see her from miles.

I tried to tell her I’d buy her flowers.

So she’s swoon and I’d see her blush.

I hit the wall when she told me she was married.

I didn’t have a clue what I was saying.

I told her she’d married a chump.

But I myself was in such a slump.

To rise above adversity is to come into contact with mercy.

Flying into the screaming skyline like I’m hitting the horizon.

I have to aim for the prize that’s provided for me by those guys

They have a way of talking that’s more like stalking.

I still ended up buying something that reminded me of her.

She had questionable attitudes about getting hurt.

So I tried to find a new shirt.

To cover my tracks.

I went back from the store more relaxed.

People around me kept telling me I look like a mack

I was the mack daddy of them all

Trapped in my self-conscious behavior

Laying out from the ridicule of human nature

Something that I couldn’t’ve pandered better

It was just that sad to be around them

I’d wept another day and fell under

When you have to run from your problems,

It’s easy to fall off the grind

Spending all that time in that prison

Seeing visions of bad decisions

I made my decision back at square one

That hurt feelings can’t hold me down

The ocean rises with the tides of interest

Holding back tears again

Emotions have a responsibility to positivity

Internal strength escapes the best of ‘em

It’s too trying to be exhausted

To fall asleep because I’m drowsy
